Conch Shell Wall - Dionicio Rodriguez

Conch Shell Wall - Dionicio Rodriguez
3300 Procter Street
Port Arthur, TX
The conch shell created by Dionicio Rodriguez, wall served as the grand entrance into the 1929 housing development of Eddinton Courts.  Today, the wall (and development) is behind a chain link fence and up for sale.  but that doesn't mean that you can get a good gander at it.

Dionicio Rodriguez was the recognized master of this Mexican artform of making concrete look like wood. The origin of this movement began in France, but in Mexicans living in Texas it was used to create outdoor furniture and other landscape ornaments that had the look of wood but were better able to withstand the heat. Dionicio's hyper-realistic techniques were secrets that he never shared.
